For one month starting on February 7, 2019, Skwetsimeltxw Willard ‘Buddy’ Joseph and Chepximiya Siyam’ Chief Janice George will be showcasing the beauty of Squamish art & culture at their Nach’i’m Studio Gallery Pop Up on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC on Coast Salish Territory.

Skwetsimeltxw Willard ‘Buddy’ Joseph and Chepximiya Siyam’ Chief Janice George are accomplished weavers and teachers from the Squamish Nation. They are the founders of L’hen Awtxw, Weaving House and have co-authored Salish Blankets: Robes of Protection and Transformation, Symbols of Wealth. George and Joseph are from prominent Squamish families and have numerous ceremonial and cultural responsibilities in their community. Chepximiya Siyam’ Chief Janice George is a hereditary chief, trained museum curator and cultural educator.

The Nach’i’m Studio Gallery Pop Up will feature the L’hen Awtxw Weaving House Exhibit, and Salish weaving workshops, as well as cultural workshops by Squamish collaborators including Michelle Lorna Nahanee, Dennis & Lorna Joseph, Lisa Lewis and Kim Seward.

Visit the Studio from February 7 to 28 at 1359 Cartwright Street, Vancouver, BC on Coast Salish Territory from 10am to 5pm daily. Watch for links to register for our workshops through our Facebook page or our Eventbrite profile.
